Hay

There is lots of farmland around Spangdahlem. Lots of it is used to grow hay, which is good because there are lots of cows as well. Some times the hay is made into huge bales that have to be carried by big tractors. Other times it is wrapped into large rolls. The tractor that they use to move these has a big pole sticking out of the front. It looks like a knight on a horse with a big lance sticking out in front.   You wouldn't realize it but this is in taken in the middle of the village - not out on some farm out of town.  Very different to see this kindof scene in the middle of a village.

For the smaller rolls of hay they often wrap them in a plastic cover. When they are lying in the field or stacked up, they actually look like a pile of huge marshmellows.

Some of the farmers make yard art out of the hay. One farmer made a hay couple that looked like a man and a woman. People will use these as marriage announcements. They usually have a sign between them with the names of the bride and groom.

Another farmer made a chapel out of the bales of hay. He used both square bales a round bales.
