Spangdahlem

Henry checked into his base in Spangdahlem.  ( Now that he is in Germany people refer to him as Heinrich.)  This is where the planes of the 52nd fighter wing have their airplanes. The base was built many years ago by the French Air Force. When the French decided to leave Germany, they turned the air base over to the Untied States Air Force.

The base is located in a corner of Germany that is very close to Belgium, Luxemburg and France. The base is located in some beautiful farm country with rolling hills and lovely green farms. In the background (its kind of hazy) but the white buildings are part of the air base.

The American pilots that fly out of Spangdahlem are part of the NATO forces that work together to protect Europe and to defend the freedom of the United States. So on the base the flags of the United States, NATO, and Germany all fly together. The German flag is on the left and the NATO flag is on the right.
