It's amazing how much countryside
surrounds the airfields in Spangdahlem. There are cows everywhere,
even in the middle of some cities there are cows grazing. And out in
the fields there are lots of cows. With all the familiar smells of cows and such the air is known as "Eifel Air".
Another interesting thing that pops up
a lot in the countryside are little roadside chapels. There are small
places to pray and people leave little messages inside these little
buildings. Every once in a while there are also small bells that
Heinrich can ring when he is finished praying in the chapel.
Wow! That scenery looks so beautiful; I'm suddenly very jealous. That chapel looks neat, I wonder how old it is.
ReplyDeleteWe went to a church in Trier that was built in about 300 ad so that is definitely an old one. Hard to tell how old the ones just out in the farms are.
